Mango Languages Review 2024: Awsome for Beginners

Relying on a single language learning platform to completely learn a language is a myth. You must use 2-3 platforms to reach an advanced level. But we cannot choose a platform without getting an honest review of it. Thus, I thought of reviewing a very common platform known as Mango Languages. You may also have heard about it before. But is it really worth the hype? Well, it can only be found out by giving it a try. So, I tried it and thought to share my experience with it in this Mango Languages review guide.

What is Mango languages?

Mango Languages is a platform that helps to learn the language with the help of high-quality content. It helped me to learn practical conversation skills through the proven method of learning a language. The platform’s main aim is a rapid transition from being a non-speaker to a person who can have meaningful interactions. The motive behind it was the organic language acquisition, but the platform is not entirely focused on heavy grammar. 

Pricing of the platform 

Although there is some free content on the platform, you must take a subscription to access the course fully. There are three types of plans for Mango Languages. It depends upon the number of languages or for which purpose you want to use it. Below is the table that shows three different plans with its pricing-

Course Overview of Mango Languages

The structure of the courses on the platform is very simple. It is divided into three tabs – Learn, Vocabulary, and Tools. In the learn tab, there are units that are further a set of chapters. Each chapter is a collection of multiple lessons. Create the profile and access the platform free for only 2 weeks. After that, there is a need to get the subscription plan. When I created my profile, I had to decide which language I wanted to learn. Of course, I could change it later on. After that, there was a path to follow. Further, I have shared how the course is created-

Choosing the topic

Once you get the path, follow it. But, if you already know the very basics of the language, choose the topic of your choice.  Read the chapter description to decide which chapter to choose. However, make sure not to do it if you are an absolute beginner. This is because the chapters are created with the assumption that you know the previous content. Decide the chapter you want. 

In a chapter

As mentioned above there are multiple lessons in each chapter. Every chapter focuses on a different topic. The first unit is about Introduction. Thus, the chapters also revolved around it. To start practicing, click the lesson to start with. 

In the lessons

Once I clicked on the lesson, there were the conversational and grammar goals on it. After that, there was a little pre-recorded conversation between two people. The next tabs give the meaning of each conversation. Along with the meanings, I had to record the translations. This isn’t the only thing I received in the lessons. There were Cultural notes too. They helped me to learn about culture too.

Vocabulary 

The second tab that I get on this platform is the vocabulary tab. Remember, that this tab is only useful once the lesson is completed. Words from the lesson are available in this section. Whereas, in the other section, I could create my own vocabulary list. On adding a new word to the list, I had to add the words in both the Native and targeted language.

Tools

The next tab is the tool tab. On this tool tab, I could get the translations from English to the targeted language or vice versa. It’s a perfect platform for any new learner. In the beginning, I used this feature so frequently to get multiple translations. But after some time, when I understood all the words and phrases, I stopped using translations much. 

Extra resources

It also has multiple extra resources that I got in a few languages. These langauges were-

• Spanish
• Mandarin Chinese
• French
• Italian

In these extra resources, I got grammatical articles that helped me learn the language. Despite being a powerful feature, some users are not getting it. 

Update: The platform has recently launched a notification that states it will soon launch English language. 

What are the features that you get with Mango Languages?

Mango Languages is a platform that has a lot of relevant learning material. Here are the things that you get with the platform-

• Critical thinking exercises: Some exercises helped me to learn practically. It helps to add vocabulary to learning material.
• Memory-building exercises: Within the lessons, there were memorization exercises that used repetition to tackle the material learned through the quick review.
• Grammar notes: In each lesson, there are grammatical explanations below the sentences. It helps me to start speaking confidently.
• Cultural notes: As I already told you, there are cultural notes in each lesson. It helps to understand the content in a cultural context.

Mango Reader: Supplementary tool with Mango Languages

Mango Reader is basically the Chrome plugin that helps to get translations of words used in the foreign language website, you visit. It supports intermediate students, who would to expand their vocabulary knowledge. 

This is again like a platform that helps to add the words to the vocabulary bank. It works like another flashcard app like Anki. Where I could easily add decks of my choice. There were translations of the whole paragraph also. Overall, it was a great experience. I learned some new words that I had never heard before. 

Mango Languages Review: Should you use it? 

It’s a perfect way of starting a language learning journey. I really think it helps to learn the language organically. The conversational practice makes it a great tool to learn the content. I love to listen to it. Every conversation that was on screen, had translations with it. Thus, it made it easy for me to understand it better. In addition to that, there is a Mango reader extension. This extension helped me to get the meaning of the words used on other foreign language websites. I have used this tool to improve my Japanese knowledge alot. Below I have mentioned the Pros and Cons of using Mango Languages-

I enjoy the way the courses are created on this platform. But it’s very common for you to not like it. You may want to know some other alternatives that you can use. Thus, here are some other platforms that helped me to learn a new language-

1. Duolingo – Following Gamified Approach 

One platform that helped me to learn the language more engagingly was Duolingo. There is no better way of learning than getting rewards for it. Everyone loves them, especially in video games. Duolingo is also just like it. Every time I complete a task or a challenge, there is a reward for it. The most important rewards that you can see are Duolingo gems.

2. Preply – Tutors to connect with

There is no better way than learning the language through online tutors. Preply allowed me to connect with a lot of tutors on it. There are over 120 languages to choose from. Each has multiple tutors to connect with.

3. Tandem – Find a language exchange partner 

The best way to learn the language properly is to practice it a lot. Tandem gave me the chance to connect with the native speakers. They not only helped me to improve my conversational skills but also became my good friends. It offers auto-correct and translation features to improve my conversations.

Mango Languages is a platform that helps you learn a new language with the help of proper courses. There are three tabs, each having specific functions. The “Learn” tab helps you go through the course, and the other two tabs support the course. Additionally, I got a Chrome extension that worked as extra help. The extension helped me get the meaning of words used on foreign language websites.
