What is LangCorrect?

LangCorrect is more like a language exchange program where you can write in the targeted language and get corrections from native speakers. It helps in getting fluent in the language you are learning. The platform has a unique name which is taken from 2 words:

  • Language
  • Correct

It basically means correcting the mistakes we make while learning a new language. There are more than 100 languages on it, making it a great choice.

How does LangCorrect work?

In starting you may get confused regarding the interface of the platform. But as you will explore the features you will get an idea of how the platform works.

1. Your feed

When you get your feed, there will be small texts from different users in your native language. Check the sentences and make corrections if any. However, if you are not interested in doing that, skip that part.

2. Writing

At the top right-hand corner, there is a right option. This is the section that will help you practice the language. Again and starting I was confused on how it works. But gradually I was able to get it. There are different sections that I have to work on. I am mentioning them below-

  • Title: In starting we have to give the title to the text we are adding.
  • Text: The next section is the text section. In it, I had to write a text in the target language. On it, you will be getting reviews from the native speakers.
  • Native text: It is not important to add anything to it. Adding text in this section is completely optional.
  • Language: I don’t know why this option is under this section. I mean we have already selected our targeted language and there is no point in selecting it again.
  • Gender: Another section that I think was unwanted, is the Gender section.

  • Permission: This section allows you to select who can view the content you have added. You can either add it for everyone or register members only.
  • Tags: It is another feature that is not compulsory. If you want you can add text related to the content you are adding up.
  • Image: This sectional allows you to add images related to your topic. Again it’s not important to do that.

When everything is done, click on the publish option. After that, you will see the paragraph added. If you want you can edit or delete it. Below the paragraph you have added there is a corrections option. You can check the corrections in this section.

3. Community tab

This tab shows the rank of other users. This ranking is based on how many corrections and posts you have added on LangCorrect. In addition to that you can also see how much contribution you make per day. I really find it an interesting way to practice writing skills.

Is LangCorrect worth it?

If your ultimate goal is to learn how to write the language, this platform is what you need. The official statement of this platform itself states:

However, I believe, it is important to get the right pronunciation for the language you are learning. Thus, you will need to have other platforms too. To get the pronunciation correct, it is important to have the correct grammatical and vocabulary knowledge. This is what you can practice here. Also, you can use it freely to practice the language. This is the best thing you get on the platform. Just remember, there is no way of using it as a beginner.

This platform works like HelloTalk, but is better than HelloTalk? Let us find it out in the below section.

LangCorrect vs HelloTalk

Below is the table that helps to show a quick comparison between both platforms-

FeaturesLangCorrectHelloTalk
Not many messages This platform does not get many message requests when compared to HelloTalk. There is no profile picture which makes it more comfortable especially for girls. Also, there are no flood of emails making it a better choice to learn. This platform does not get many message requests when compared to HelloTalk. There is no profile picture which makes it more comfortable especially for girls. Also, there is no flood of emails making it of better choice to learn.
Longer messagesThis platform allows you to add multiple sentences. When a native speaker corrects a line from the content, only that line is sent back to you.You can add a few lines on this platform. And once the native speaker corrects your mistake, you get the whole paragraph back again.
InterfaceIn the beginning, it is difficult to understand how it works. But after some time you will enjoy the platform. It is because when a native speaker corrects you, they can give comments on why the sentence needs those changes. There are no comments or explanations for it which makes it hard to understand the mistakes for the learner.

LangCorrect Alternatives

It is a platform that is known for practicing writing with native speakers. Therefore you may want to know some alternatives to learn the language. Although I have already discussed about HelloTalk, below I have mentioned some alternatives as well-

1. Duolingo

It is a free platform that allows every language learner to fulfill their dream. This platform is basically like you are in a video game. You play, win, and earn. The course is fully divided into units which are further divided into sets of lessons. Each lesson is a compilation of exercises that are more like a game. On completing the exercises, you earn rewards like Duolingo Gems and XP score.

2. iTalki

If you want a private home tutor to learn a language but are unable to do so, I have a great option for you, iTalki. iTalki is a well-known name in the world of language learning. There are plenty of tutors for each language. You can also filter your research by pricing all the teaching experience. There is also a free feature, the community, that works like langcorrect. You can message in the community and get corrections from other native speakers.

3. LingoDeer

Lingodeer is a perfect platform for anyone learning a language with a different writing style. This is a platform that starts by teaching the alphabet. Most of the platforms fail to do it. Their main focus is to teach conversational practice rather than teaching the writing part of the language. It follows the gamified approach making the learners get engaged with the lessons.

Conclusion

Learning the language means developing different aspects of the language like punctuation and grammar. LangCorrect is the platform that helps to practice the language with native speakers. You can improve your punctuation and grammatical knowledge with the help of it. However remember, you cannot learn the language but practice it. Therefore, if you are a fresher, try to use other platforms like Duolingo or iTalki. They will help in learning the language from starting.
