What are Duolingo Leagues and Leaderboards?

The Duolingo league and leaderboard is a weekly competition with 30 users from all the platforms. You will get the option of the leaderboards on the left side of the platform. Click on it, and you will get the option to take part in the leagues.

On the other hand, if you are using Duolingo on the mobile app, you will get the option at the bottom of the app. Click on it, and you will be taken to the first league.

When I tried to use it, it asked me to complete 10 lessons first. So, you must complete 10 lessons first, if you are interested in taking part in the league. Also, it helped me to earn a lot of gems. If you come in the top three ranks, then you will be able to earn more gems. To come to the top of the leaderboard, you will have to earn a lot of experience points. I have always been very competitive and wanted to win the leagues badly. So I made up a goal and started earning 100 XP in a day. Eventually, I was able to come in the top 15 members of the league.

When does the Duolingo league start and end?

I always wait for a new week to start so that I can take part in the leagues. The Duolingo league generally starts every Monday evening and ends between 22:00 and 01:00 on Sunday night or Monday morning depending on your own time zone.

For UTC, these leagues are generally refreshed around 00:00 UTC. So usually you will find the leagues starting at midnight depending on the area you live in. As these leagues will help you to compete with other users, you will stay motivated in the language learning journey.

What happens after finishing the diamond league in Duolingo?

As mentioned above, the highest league in Duolingo is the Diamond League. The Diamond League is the most competitive league in nature. I had worked hard to get into this league. It was difficult to win this challenge. But with my efforts, I was able to win the challenge. After winning it, I eagerly waited for the next league. But no new league was there. The only thing that happened was that I received a new achievement Badge for getting first in it unlike in 2021.

Winning a challenge is never an easy thing, but it is this difficulty that makes the final victory particularly precious and full of a sense of accomplishment. When you win a challenge and get an achievement pin badge that symbolizes honor, you will feel even happier. Every challenge is very meaningful to you. It marks our growth and progress.

If you get an achievement pin badge, you can try to turn this virtual reward into a real item. You can consider customizing unique achievement Pin Badges that belong to you, incorporating elements from the virtual badge into the badge design, and adding your unique creativity. This pin badge is not only a symbol of victory but also a gift to encourage yourself to keep moving forward.

Duolingo Leagues and Leaderboards – Step-by-Step Guide For You

In November 2021, there was a new tournament for people who were in the Diamond League. In this tournament, you will have to be in the top 10 of the Diamond League. I also took part in this league and found when a new tournament was about to start, there was a message saying “Top 10 qualify for the Tournament”. At that time I was able to take part in the tournament. However, when it came to “The next Tournament is starting soon”, I was not able to enter the tournament, despite being in the top 10. Eventually, I managed to qualify for the Diamond League and also took part in three stages-

  • Quater-finals
  • Semi-finals
  • Finals

Update: It was removed after a few days of coming on the platform.

What happens if you don’t join the leaderboard Duolingo?

Every week on Monday a random league is open. As only 30 users compete in a league, you will have to join it before it is filled. Once the league is closed another league is started and you do not join the first league, you can get into another league. Once you are in a league and come in the top 20 users, you will be in the next league. Similarly, you will move to other leagues and eventually to the diamond league.

On the other hand, if you do not come under top rankers, and make it to the last 3-4 ranks you will move to the previous league. Thus you must practice a lot to maintain a high position in the league.

How to turn off the Duolingo league?

If you are bored with the league or are not interested in the league anymore, you can easily get out of it. All you need to do is to avoid going to that part of the app. However, if you want to restart it, you will have to go to the leaderboard option on the platform and take part in the leagues.

Do people cheat in the Duolingo leaderboard?

I personally think that people sometimes cheat to win the Duolingo leaderboards. As discussed above, to win the league, we have to earn a higher XP score. In such a situation, people forget their ultimate goal and start using the boosters to increase their XP. Also, I have seen people literary earning 500 XP or 1000XP in a single day which is impossible. Due to this, not only me but many other users believe that they are cheating. Many people also believe to make users more engaged on Duolingo the platform has bots on this platform. All these things make me believe that people sometimes cheat, just to be on the top of the leaderboards. However, it is still not proven and is only a debatable topic

Conclusion

Duolingo leagues are the ones in which you will be competing against other users every week. There are 10 different leagues in which you will be taking part. Each of the leagues will give you gems that you can use to unlock new lessons. To move on to the next, you will have to qualify for the first one. When I took part in these leagues, I challenged myself to earn 100 XP daily. It helped me a lot to get to a new league. To qualify for the final league is a tough task. You will need to put a lot of effort to come in this league.
